  When you think of producing porn films you probably think of southern California. And for the most part, you would be right. Even though San Francisco used to be the epicenter of the adult film world, that title has, for the most part, been handed over to L.A and Porn Valley.But there are a few San Francisco porn film companies that have put us back on the map. SIR Video Productions (that stands for Sex, Indulgence and Rock 'n Roll) run by the fabulous couple Shar Rednour and Jackie Strano, and local landmarks Good Vibrations' Sexpositive Productions. In 2001, SIR Video won "Best All Girl Feature" at the AVN awards for their first feature film Hard Love and How to Fuck in High Heels. This year, Sexpositive Production's Slide Bi Me is nominated for "Best Bisexual Video" at the Gay AVN Awards which will happen in March. Like SIR Video, Slide Bi Me is Sexpositive's first film. The fact that both of these companies are getting such prestigious recognition right out of the gate says a lot about San Francisco porn. Both companies formed out of a need for higher quality porn, for films they wanted to see, films with real people having hot, fun, steamy safer sex. San Francisco porn is about being sex positive—accepting people for who they are, whatever they like, and providing an open and safe space in which to do, learn, talk, write, work, or whatever they want/need to about it. And that is a true difference in the porn world.
