Fetish model Jeneye has a diverse career and is growing ever-hotter in the industry. She took some time in between her numerous projects to speak with us about and her definition of fetish, boundaries and the life of a fetish diva.
EROS ZINE: You're more into fetish than anything you consider remotely connected to "porn." As a fetish model, do you worry about the crossover that some might see?
JENEYE: It is something I have casually experienced. People have judged me and what I do based on their vague knowledge of fetish and its direct relation to sex in their minds, meaning porn of some sort or at least something dirty. Fetish can be dirty, yes, but that's not what attracts me to the fetish scene.
EZ: How long have you been in the modeling business, and what brought you to the realm of fetish modeling?
JENEYE: I have been modeling and performing for about 6-7 years. I got started performing and go-go dancing at a Boston club called ManRay. They have Fetish Fridays and I was always attracted to the kinds of things that happened on those nights, mostly the costuming and performing.
EZ: You're also an actor and performer. What sorts of things are you into, other than posing for the camera as a fetish diva?
JENEYE: Being a Diva is a lot of work you know! When I was younger, I was involved with a performance group that did all kinds of Broadway-style, stage productions; I loved it. A couple of years ago, I had the opportunity to appear in a commercial for Compaq computers, and that was a blast. I have also done 2 short films put out by Mindscape pictures. After I worked on those projects, I found myself wanting to do more acting. It satisfies something in me.
EZ: When you think of fetish, what specific areas do you think about? Are there aspects of BDSM or any other lifestyle, or is it more the clothing like latex or vinyl?
JENEYE: It's all of it, really. My exposure to the "scene" has really educated me about all of the different kinds of fetish and fetish arrangements that exist out there. Each person in the scene has their own reason for being there.
I like performing and modeling and I am attracted to the fashion. I am also a bit of an exhibitionist. I enjoy the voyeuristic aspect of the scene that has allowed me to bear witness to a myriad of bizarre and unusual things. The scene has not only been an expressive and creative outlet for me, but it has helped me to come into my own sexual self. That is a pleasure that most people don't want to understand and few get to enjoy.
EZ: Are your performances fetish-oriented?
JENEYE: I do like to explore real fetish in my shows. It gives me a chance to explore something new for myself, entertain and give people some insight into what makes fetish tick. Fetish is a whole lot more than just getting a spanking.
EZ: Sounds fun! Where can we see you perform?
JENEYE: There is a great vintage lingerie event coming up in September called Garters & Lace 2004. It's at the DoubleTree hotel in Lowell, MA and you can get more info on their website at www.Lynlocke.com. I will be performing 3 of my own shows as well as modeling.
I also hope to return to Jamaica this fall for Kink in the Caribbean 5. I had the opportunity to perform there for the last 2 years and what a good time that is! EZ: You've spoken before about the "goddess within." Can you expand on that for us?
JENEYE: When I got more involved with my performing, I realized I needed a pseudonym for many different reasons. A nickname from a friend morphed itself into Jeneye. I soon found myself growing into this name, and the character that grew was a female goddess who has been with me for years. Jeneye is as much of me as she is her own person, and she is an outward extension of everything I want to be. She assumes many different forms. For me, it has been about empowerment, beauty, self-love and more. I believe that all women have a goddess inside. The trick is to find the courage to identify her and let her out.
EZ: As far as fetish is concerned, what would you say is your personal philosophy?
JENEYE: In my opinion, the fetish scene is real sex and then some. It's about sexuality, sensuality, erotica and the psychologies behind it all. It is a necessary but very misunderstood and taboo scene. My philosophy is to get in, experience it and try to understand what it is. If you open your mind and look deep enough, you will find some level of it to relate to.
EZ: What is considered "too much" for you in the realm of your modeling?
JENEYE: Boundaries are good and I certainly have them. I have no probelm with nudity because I think it's beautiful; however, I do not exchange bodily fluids or do any bloodletting. I am not into hardcore domination or beating, and I don't do penetration.
EZ: What are your hopes for the future?
JENEYE: I would love to do more performing and establish myself in something related to the arts.
EZ: Fantastic. We wish you luck with that. Anything else you'd like to add?
JENEYE: Being involved in this scene has been quite a trip. It's been as amazing as it has been horrible, but I have learned a lot and I will always cherish the time I have spent in the fetish world.
