Teagan Presley: Photo spread and interview with one of Digital Playground's hottest starlets. More»
6-15-2004

When we last left our kinked and fearless heroine, she had already trounced through one night of NY's fetish marathon. Will she survive another day?....

I was struggling to get myself dressed and out the door for The Baroness's Strict Fetish Cocktail Party before 9:00. Held in the East Village at her Fetish Retinue venue, The Baroness unveiled a new line of corset-like lacing and elegant cocktail attire, all in her signature latex. I especially enjoyed the tailored gun metal evening suit; it was just so unexpected. The crowd was an intimate one, almost exclusively in latex, and champagne glasses were the accoutrement of choice.

From there it was on to Octagon for SMack!, New York's "premiere multimedia fetish play party." There was so much going on, even upon my early arrival, that it was difficult to take it all in. Venus was showing off her line of black light hair extensions. Artists from Spider Webb's Tattoo were busy modifying bodies, the tell-tale buzz of their tattoo needle like a siren's song. There were vendor booths, a well-equipped play space and of course, SMack!'s trademark widescreen video visuals projected everywhere.

This crowd was younger and more "cyber" than the previous two evenings, with neon dreads and sky-high platforms the norm. Fashion shows by Vex Clothing, AMF Korsets and Polymorph featured curvaceous, nubile bodies.

And, oh! The performances! Masuimi Max and Darenzia played off each other in a doll-like fantasy sequence. Boston's Latex Lilly laid down plastic sheeting and splattered a naked babe with pink paint, then sprinkled her with rainbow jimmies. Yummy! And later in the evening, the stage was graced once again by Masuimi, this time accompanied by her husband. While he dangled from his trademark meat hooks, she stripped down to nothing and showered herself in milk. Watching her writhe around the stage, while Allen was swinging beside her, it was evident that these two are, indeed, soul mates. The spectacular evening's mesmerizing soundtrack was provided by DJs Darryl Hell, Dr. Octo-Pussy, Black Widow and Jon Gill. And the multi-level space offered many nooks and crannies for discrete exploration, taken advantage of by creatively aggregated couples.

When they were turning on the lights and asking us to leave, it was time to take a cab downtown to the official after party. Mistress Evita had been hostessing Indulge, a dungeon play party, since 9:00 pm; the SMack! after partiers joined them after 4:00. And there were plenty of people eager to continue the festivities. I hobnobbed with burlesque sensation Amber Ray, ex-pat and current San Francisco resident John de Sade, fetish shutterbug Wolfman, Mistress Emily, and Storm Hamilton. By the time I bumbled out of there, the sun was up and I was practically a pumpkin! Sleep! Sleep!

I was rudely awakened at noon by Gecko, the Tesla-tastic chef who I'd hired to whip up the eggs for D'Omelette, an all-domme brunch. What WAS I thinking? The first guest didn't arrive till almost 2:30, and even that seemed early! But once we'd all had a bloody or two, we settled into my living room for a casual chat. Gecko kept the omelettes coming and I made sure everyone's glasses were full as we whiled away the relaxing afternoon. And then, I napped. And napped. All the way through till Sunday afternoon...

....when I simply HAD to get myself together for at least the final afternoon of TES Fest 2004. Up until then, the second annual gathering of BDSM sorts had been happening in midtown at Hotel Pennsylvania, right across from Penn Station and Madison Square Garden.

This enormous and decidedly kink-friendly establishment gave over their entire top floor to the event, with conference rooms for seminars and ballrooms for vendors and a 24-hour dungeon. Though Paddles was open from Friday through Sunday for 24 hours as well, the Chelsea dungeon attracted mostly out-of-towners. The locals opted to stay local and utilized the on-site facilities, furnished by DC's Crucible. Registration had begun Friday afternoon, with workshops beginning at 3:00. Friday night featured Meet & Greets for every level of player, followed by an Estate Auction and The Follies.

Saturday the seminars started early, with Puppy and Pony Play at 10:00 am. Saturday night's festivities opened with The Novice Awards Excursion and a Silent Auction, but the highlight was The Carnal Carnival, a benefit with a boot kissing booth, cock-ring toss, among other themed games. The wrestling attracted an awe-struck audience and the wandering fashion show provided eye candy. All weekend, the workshops and seminars seemed endless: Educational luminaries such as Midori, Barbara Nitke, Felice Shays, Kate Bornstein, Boymeat, who Nerve.com said "makes the Marquis de Sade look like Pat Boone," and dozens of others shared their BDSM secrets on varied topics, including Spanking for Pleasure, Becoming a Prized Possession, Polyamorous Relationships, The Ethics of Power Exchange and Erotic Humiliation.

I arrived around 1:00 on Sunday and strolled through the vendor area, pausing to admire Mistress Skye's DeTails Toys, the many-hued wares of Rainbow Ropes and the ever-evolving artwork of Marrus. I finally succumbed to the corsets and tried on a few styles by The Other Woman. They use spiral steel boning and I was surprised at how comfortably their pieces fit. I could actually bend over in them! I chose a fabric and a cut and they handed me a photo, printed out right there in their booth, with all the specifications, so I can order when my bank account permits.

Feeling obligated to take in a bit of education, I sat in on a seminar by Mistress Morgana: Polishing the Jewels: Cock and Ball Torment. I just love listening to this statuesque San Francisco domme speak. Her chipper delivery and happy demeanor make even the abuse of someone's genitals seem harmless! She makes me feel safe and secure, just like everyone's favorite third grade teacher!

I had to duck out a few minutes early to take part in the Afternoon Tea, presented by Miss Jenn and Sissy Maid Stephanie. I was pleasantly surprised at just how formal and relaxing an atmosphere they were able to achieve in a section of the high-ceilinged ballroom. They had arranged a horseshoe of tables and chairs, with white tablecloths and tea service. A phalanx of sissy maids were there to serve us, with rustling crinolines, starched aprons and tinkling bells between their legs. The tea sandwiches, scones and pastries kept coming and Constant Comment poured freely. I was seated with Joansie and Susan from DC, Jennifer from Canada and Boston's Princess Kali.

Directly across from me was Annie, a young woman whose experience in the scene belied her age. She had created a lovely little booklet that served as a sort of "user's manual" to her as a submissive/play partner. It was just charming! Princess Kali's sissy maid Steffie was spiffy in black and white with an adorable brunette pageboy, and Kali told me about the seminar they're planning to attend in November, "A Maid Academy for Sissies and their Mistresses," taught by Lady Red and Sissy Maid Stephanie.

After the soothing tea and sumptuous company, it was time to wrap up my exhaustive weekend. I picked up a souvenir TES Fest 2004 pin and headed for the subway, already looking forward to The Fetish Marathon 2025!
