Laurie Wallace is a warm and wonderful woman who knows how to work her beauty and brains. Her gregarious personality has landed her at the Playboy mansion as their official "Party Girl." She has posed for and appeared in both mainstream and adult films and publications, but she prefers porn. And she uses her real name! Eros Zine asked her how it all happened for her and what she's working on now.
Eros Zine: You've moved around a lot. Were you an Army brat?
Laurie Wallace: My dad worked for the National Security Agency, so although I wasn't exactly an Army brat, it was pretty much the same thing. In Scotland the other American kids I went to school with were Navy kids, and in Germany I went to school with Army kids. I was born in Baltimore, then from age 7 to 13 lived on a farm in Scotland. When I was 13 my family moved to Augsburg, Germany, where I stayed through high school. Then I came back to the States for college on my own; my parents stayed in Germany for another four years.
I wouldn't trade the experiences I had for anything! Moving made me very outgoing and able to adapt to new situations. I've moved so many times on my own here in the States (Baltimore, DC, Miami, New York). It just comes naturally. I love to travel and experience new places and cultures.
EZ: Brains and beauty are a lethal combo. I'll bet you really drove the boys crazy growing up-and still do!
LW: Who says pretty girls can't be smart too? I graduated summa cum laude from Loyola College in Maryland with a double major in German and Political Science, am a member of Phi Beta Kappa and attended law school at The George Washington University Law Center (although I dropped out after a year to model full time). I was always a good student, but I definitely had a wild side too! I started fooling around with guys in seventh grade and haven't stopped since! Needless to say I was very popular as a result.
The best part was being a cheerleader through high school. Every Friday we got to wear our uniforms to class. My nickname became "Legs," because my legs were longer than the other girls', which of course made my skirt look much shorter! I just loved teasing the boys, crossing my legs over and over and walking around and bending over for no apparent reason. One of my favorite moments was having sex in the scoreboard box with one of the football players. Also going down on my boyfriend while he was driving on the German autobahn at a million miles an hour in his Porsche. Ah yes, I have many fond memories of high school!
I quickly figured out the power that girls hold over guys and I just loved the attention! I was very influenced by Madonna in my early years. She is so passionate and upfront about her sexuality and who she is. She is a strong woman and makes no apologies. I believe she has done a lot toward allowing women to feel powerful about expressing themselves sexually without feeling ashamed.
EZ: And do you think being a pretty blonde helps you or gets in your way?
LW: Blondes definitely have more fun! I am a natural blonde, so my hair has been exactly the same my whole life. I can't imagine going to a different color, although wearing wigs can be a fun diversion; they make me feel like a totally different person.
EZ: What photo shoot was the most fun for you?
LW: Gosh, I have had so many great experiences. I absolutely love being in front of a camera. Point a camera at me and I'm on; I'll model for 12 hours straight. Being naked in front of a camera is such a turn-on! If I could model nude every day every day of my life, I would.
EZ: Any on-set horror stories?
LW: When I was working on the movie Holy Man in Miami, my then-boyfriend was coming down to visit me from Maryland. I got him a part as an extra in one of my scenes, the party scene with Nino Cerruti. My boyfriend was nervous about me being in this business even though I insisted, "It's boring, not at all glamorous."
When we went to perform the big scene, Jeff Goldblum came up and asked me out. When I enlightened him that my boyfriend was standing next to me, Goldblum had him removed from the set. It sparked a big, nonstop argument with my boyfriend the rest of the night. Then around 2am, Goldblum rang my house (he had gotten my number from my SAG paperwork), asking me again to come to his place. That kindled a bigger argument, with my boyfriend shouting, "This is my worst nightmare!" He was convinced that I'd sleep with Jeff Goldblum the minute that he left town!
EZ: Tell us about your column in Hustler magazine.
LW: It's a monthly column called The Wallace Report - Free Speech with Laurie Wallace. I'm very grateful to Larry Flynt for allowing me an opportunity to have my voice heard on what I consider to be very important topics. We're living in a time in which our individual liberties and freedoms are being eroded. If we don't come together with a strong, unified voice, we may even lose our right to enjoy adult entertainment as we see fit. I'm often confronted with outsiders' narrow-minded and misconceived ideas about what it means to be a "porn star." I'm very proud to be a part of the adult industry and I hope that, as a woman in porn, my perspective on the current obscenity laws, the recent rash of FCC fines and the election might cause people to think.
EZ: I understand you're a regular on the Howard Stern Show. He can be pretty intimidating, but you say he loves you. What's he like?
LW: Yes, Howard has said on the air that I was the best guest he's ever had on the show! I've appeared on his show several times. I was very nervous before going on the first time, thinking that he might be rude or something, but it was just the opposite. He really respects smart, successful women. Howard is just terrific.
EZ: I didn't realize you were working in adult films now. Tell me about what that's like.
LW: Since I was already well established with mainstream film, modeling work, and with Playboy, when I moved out to LA the adult film companies courted me pretty heavily. Since I was already shooting that type of content for LaurieWallace.com anyway, I figured why not?
Of course what makes me a bit of an anomaly is that I use my real name for my adult career. There are two reasons for that: one, I had already established a fan base with it through Playboy, and two, I love what I do and I am proud to stand behind it. I absolutely love working in adult. The people I meet are way nicer and far more legitimate than the ones I used to run into trying to do mainstream stuff!
EZ: Was it easy at first? A natural progression from posing for photographers?
LW: To be a model or an actress, even in the mainstream world, you have to be an exhibitionist. You have to draw attention to yourself, and you're inclined to enjoy being watched. I've always been very comfortable with being naked!
I started doing adult magazines with Playboy and have appeared in over 25 of their Special Editions magazines. Then they asked me to host a show interviewing the celebrities at the Playboy mansion parties as the "Playboy.com Party Girl." After that I moved to Los Angeles and started doing work for Playboy TV on Nightcalls, Private Calls and Adult Stars Close Up. Then came hard core solo and girl/girl layouts for all of the adult magazines and film companies.
EZ: Michael Ninn's stuff is gorgeous. What was it like working with him?
LW: I did my first hardcore girl/girl scene on camera for Michael Ninn (Lost Angels with Nikita Denise). I loved the glamour and style of his shooting and was really excited to work with him.
Of course, when I arrived on the set I was totally thrown off my game by discovering that an ex-boyfriend of mine that I had met modeling in New York was there (porn star Nick Manning)! In the three years since we'd last seen each other, we'd both moved to LA and gotten into porn. What a small world! He was shooting a scene with Nikita right before I was shooting with her and I think we were both feeling a bit awkward with the whole dynamic. But we were able to laugh about it, so it all turned out okay!
EZ: You've started your own production company. What are you working on?
LW: I am producing my own line of videos for my web site and also do the photo shoots for it as well. It's a lot of fun because I like to be on the creative end of things and be a part of the whole process. Plus I like to choose who I work with.
EZ: What can people find on your web site?
LW: Since I run LaurieWallace.com myself, it has a more personal feel than most sites out there, and the fans definitely respond to that and stay very loyal. I am very conscious of the quality of the images and I have a diary there where I keep everyone up-to-date on everything going on in my life. I'm in the process of adding video on demand and live chat, which is something new for me. I've done live webcasts for lots of other companies and I can't wait to start doing my own!
EZ: Anything fun you'd like to add?
LW: How about a few weird and random facts? I used to be a competitive Scottish Highland dancer. I love foot massages. I speak German. I'm incredibly ticklish. I love to cook and I eat more than anyone else I know!
