On a warm autumn weekend just after The Red Sox had won the World Series and the leaves were turning, I drove up to Boston for Mondo Porno Horrorshow. That seemed appropriate to me, since it was the weekend before Halloween and Manray, the party's venue, has a loyal Friday following of gothy, ghoulish types.
Girl On Top kicked off the show with power ballads, and Bio Pop rocked. In between the bands, burlesque babes kept the crowd entertained. Miss Kitty Cocktail did one solo number and a second show accompanied by the lovely Cherry Blossom. Black Cat Burlesque had a cast of four for a randy rendition of Little Red Riding Hood, complete with a scary carnivorous wolf and plenty of blood and gore. Oh, and twirling pasties! Erocktica brought down the house with their usual estrogen-fueled mayhem. Pink Snow talked unsuspecting young ladies into joining her onstage and then encouraged them to strip along with her. This, as you'd expect, never fails to drive the audience wild.
In the dance room, DJ Chris Ewen was spinning smut-charged glam rock, new wave and other classics all night long, while I was busy running back and forth between the stage, dressing room and lounge, where Black Cat Burlesque handed out porn to people who correctly answered horror movie-themed trivia questions. I tossed t-shirts, sex toys and, appropriately, red sox, from the stage between the bands and the burlesque. At 2:30 the staff was still trying to shoo everyone out of the place. Those porn hounds are never satisfied! New York Back in Manhattan, just a week before Thanksgiving, Mondo Porno returned to Arlene Grocery for Classical Mondo Porno. The smut hounds showed up early for a screening of The Opening of Misty Beethoven, which they loved. Lots Oh Lixxx Ice Cream made a return appearance and hosted a lick-off onstage, challenging contestants to artfully devour the pussy- and penis-shaped ice cream treats.
GSX started rockin' right after the movie wrapped up, followed by the x-rated country rock of Raunch Party, Mondo Porno favorites The Sex Slaves and a late night set by Honor Among Thieves. In between all the messy rock 'n' roll, Molly Crabapple teased, Little Brooklyn tantalized and Peekaboo Pointe twirled on her toe shoes. In the lounge, a psycho sex soundtrack was provided by DJ Shakey and Punk Ass Jason to accompany the airbrush artistry of Vann Godfrey. He transformed Carin and Darlinda into my original Mondo Porno tattooed babes, and the two ladies ran around the place in nothing but bodypaint. And glitter! The crowd eagerly accepted the bags and bags of free videos and DVDs and reached for the t-shirts, vibrators, "personal shavers" and other swag provided by Eros.com, Adam and Eve, Penthouse and Cybernet Entertainment. The people are getting progressively more particular about their porn, requesting certain genres, stars and directors. Sheesh, you'd think they'd just take what they were given!
By 4:30 there were still a dozen or so drunken deviants sipping on their Original Sin Cider and Sex Kola cocktails. They inspired many a make-out session, most intriguingly the Rob Raunch Party and Annie Show situation, which resulted in dueling nipple torture.
