London Featured Event

We love Torture Garden. First, they have an excellent name. Torture is good - in this context. Second, they have the most sublime fashions. Third, they host the greatest galas. This valentines day will be no different as they throw a party guaranteed to hunker down and stake out a place in your memory.

The theme for this event is Obsessive Love; think "Every Breath You Take," and you should be right on. Who else understands obsession like someone who would use the word torture in their name? Oh, the angst, the agony…ain't it grand?

If you're ready to share your unrequited obsession with a group of like-minded sufferers, you can all enjoy some truly "Twisted Love Performances" by: live electro-punk duo Noblesse Oblige, the Belles of Shoreditch who will give you some burlesque-a-go-go, Jessie Pie offering a sexy cabaret and food love, Amrita all the way from Japan with a demo of Japanese bondage and SM installations and the Love & Hate Pole Dancers.

If you're into dancing away the heartache, much like Kevin Bacon in Footloose, then take your baggage over to the Beating Heart Club Arena to listen to DJs Ed Real, The Ting, Allen TG, and Jimmy Mofo. These miserable spinners will bring you the Nu Skool Breaks and electro to hard dance so you can sweat away your sadness. If this isn't your motif, head over to the Broken Heart Eclectic Ballroom to listen to DJ's Sebastian, David TG, Sukeban and Jimmy No Shame turn out some twisted love songs, neo swing, lounge exotica, Vegas beats, trash, disco punk, booty, bootlegs and electro clash.

If you're unable to work out your problems that way, then perhaps a little mortification of the flesh is on hand at the Bleeding Heart Dungeon Playroom. Offer up your agony while listening to some atmospheric, erotic, ambient soundscapes and playing on SM equipment supplied by the notorious Infernal Mechanix.

If you're aware you have a problem, then you're ahead of the game - admitting there is a problem is the first step. The second is to purchase your advance tickets t £16 for members and £19 for non. £2 from every ticket donated to official tsunami earthquake appeal. If you're lush with the lucre, use your CC by calling 44 (0)20 7613 4733 or go online to www.torturegarden.com to purchase your part of pining.

If you're not able to get online (and if that's the case, how're you reading this??), you can go direct to the Torture Garden Clothing Showroom, located at Unit 30 Cremer Business Centre, Cremer St, Shoreditch, London E2 (call 020 7729 7714 for access Sat). Tix are also available at Paradiso, Breathless, or Regulation. If you're not prepared to handle your problems, then you can always try to get your tickets on the door for £19 members / £22 non.

As always at a Torture Garden event, there is a dress code, but that's half the fun. This time you should explore your imagination on the theme of twisted obsessive love, broken hearts, animal love, or love hurts. If you've got the minerals, work your way in with fantasy fetish, body art, drag, burlesque, carnival electro freak, porno punk, uniform, medical, Oriental, theatrical, cyber or lounge lizard. If you can't find something in those categories which fits you (oh my goodness) then be completely original. Just remember: no casual street wear, club wear or cotton T-shirts. If you're too blinded by your desolation to remember this credo, too bad for you because there will be no refund!

Now, do like I do - hand draped over forehead, whine, "Why can't s/he/they see I'm the only one who loves them they way s/he/they deserve!" Now you're ready.
