The Pink Party

Following up on last year's loft-held lovefest, EditrixAbby expands The Pink Party to an enchanting new underground grotto. Start the night off with some raunchy rock n roll by Jackie Pop at 8, Yellow Fly at 9, Sputnik Down at 10 and at 11, In the Name of Loaf-yes, a Meatloaf tribute band. Then, at midnight, serenading you with songs of love: Pink Snow, Gabrielle of St. Eve, Velocity Chyalld of Vulgaras and opera diva deluxe Christine Matovich.

All evening long, go-go-gorgeous gyrations will be provided by Stefan of GrooveHoops, Samantha the Bellydancer and BYTE's Clea Cutthroat. Beware of The Kissing Bandits, an evil crew of anonymous kissers, and The Breast Smothering Brigade, inconsistently consisting of Mistress HarleQuinn, Mistress Diva and Mistress Wynter.

Sinciné 2025 Erotic Film Festival

If parties and nightclubs don't appeal to you, perhaps you'd prefer to spend Valentine's Day in the dark of a movie theatre. If they're screening erotic films, so much the better, eh?

Manhattan's Melissa Ulto and Matt Frank dreamt up the idea of an erotic party fused with a film festival and present the first SinCiné in 2004. This year's promises to be an exploration of the theme, with three nights of "erotic art films" intended to "stir your libido, tweak your weenies, get you dewy in the lower meadows, pull your crank and curl your toes, as much as possible" with film categories of fiction, documentary, short and animation/experimental. They've chosen the plushly sensual venue of The Gershwin Hotel's Gallery, an intimate space in the boutique hotel located next door to The Museum of Sex in The Flatiron District.

Ulto and Frank are intrigued by what defines "porn" and "erotica," so be prepared to witness a wide range of works, selected for screening by a discerning group of filmmakers, editors and erotisans, including graffiti artist Ernie Vales and last year's grand prize winner Mirta San Martin. Whatever the content, we're sure the selections will erotically inspire! And the casual conversations to be had at the cocktail bar will no doubt further fuel the worship of Eros.

Sexhibition: Shut Up And Watch

If you're not completely "loved out" by the weekend following Valentine's Day, we'd "love" to recommend this event, billed as "an artistically, sexually-charged exhibition event for voyeuristic queer and trans folx of color to experience, watch and admire queer, genderqueer and trans folx of color performing hot sex, BDSM, fantasy play, erotic art and more. It is a creative space exhibiting erotic/sexual art and performances." Whew!

They make a point of specifying that it is not a play party, though it all sounds pretty playful to us. But this event is designed for you to "shut up and watch designated hot people of color performing hot sex." So even though you can't participate, you most certainly can become, um, inspired to do so elsewhere...afterward.

The producers further characterize it as "an art/sex exhibit opening, dress-up event (whatever that means to you)." Okay, once they say dress-up they really catch my attention! This only adds to the entire spectacle scenario: hot, beautifully costumed people watching hot, thrillingly naked people have hot, excitingly unbridled sex!

Queer, genderqueer and trans people of color are invited to attend. "This means lesbians, gay men, bisexuals, queer, genderqueer and queer and straight trans folx of color." Hmm, guess that rules me out. If it includes you, please go and report back to me immediately!

There will be hors d'oeuvres, wine and cheese served, just like at a Soho art opening, with the added excitement of a raffle and tons of information on sex and sexuality. Of course, they will actually be showcasing visual, audio and performance art. The promise of an erotic/political sex show as the grand finale is something we'd like to see!

The future holds four Sexhibition shows over the year and the producers are planning to invite one audience member to help create erotic political art at each show. Check out their web site for how you can be that audience member.
